Three coaching clients who have worked with me for many years are living their long term visions: The first, a busy executive has mastered work/life balance and lives with harmony in all aspects of his life; the second has created a sense of family and community after the recent death of her husband and is thriving; and the third is working at her dream job and leading others with a deep sense of purpose. Life coaching can turn the ordinary into the extraordinary.

In their work with me over the years, these three clients moved through one life or business crisis after another while keeping their hearts and minds open to positive possibilities. They did not get stuck in blame and feeling like a victim. Instead, they kept going, stayed focused on their goals and took actions that served themselves and others. They lived their core beliefs and changed their perceptions when necessary in order to stay in the creative flow of life. Consequently, their lives continue to reflect who they are and what they value.

In three to six months of life coaching, clients can see dramatic results in themselves and their  lives. However, long-term coaching services are valuable for those who want to challenge themselves to continue growing personally and professionally. A client might continue with monthly coaching for several years, return to coaching during times of high stress or join a coaching group. The “long distance” approach to coaching leads to a way of life that is filled with authenticity, empowerment, satisfaction and harmony.

Whether you engage in short- or long-term coaching, here are a few tips to make the most from your life coaching experience:

  • Feel all of your feelings without judging them. Your coach will support you.
  • Commit to a vision, your goals and the coaching process. Your coach will enable you to stay focused and in purposeful action.
  • Work with the relevant mental reframes provided by the coach. A change in perception empowers you to take construction action.
  • Try new skills and tweak them. Your coach will encourage you to take risks and analyze consequences.
  • Focus on a positive outcome no matter how turbulent your life gets. Your coach will inspire you to use adversity for your personal growth.
  • Accept yourself even when you fall short of your expectations. Your coach will remind you of your magnificence.
  • Receive your coach’s praise and positive feedback. You will feel empowered and grow in confidence.
  • Acknowledge the progress you are making one small step at a time. Your coach will affirm you and your efforts.

My coaching clients have taught me the benefits of the tips I shared with you. They can work for you as well. Before you know what is happening in your life coaching, you will notice that you feel more confident and your life is changing for the better. I have seen my clients achieve extraordinary outcomes and attract amazing people and situations into their lives when they stay on the course that coaching provides. It feels magical when great things happen, but I know it is the result of clients doing the work to make positive changes within themselves and their lives as well as live with a deep sense of passion and purpose.
